Everest Base Camp

The capital of Nepal is Kathmandu. This is a typical street scene. Note the wiring.

Yaks are the primary beasts of burden, although horses and mules are also used.

Our goal was to reach Mt. Everest Base Camp, but this was all we found. Mt. Everest is the small triangle peeking over the ridgeline in the center.

The weather was great until Day 14, when we woke up to snow, followed by three days of rain.

On the last day, Day 19, we flew out from this makeshift helipad.

I only got through this with a lot of help. We had our own chefs, and they made a special cake for me on Day 13.
