Growing Up

I was raised on a sheep and chicken farm in Newton Township, Miami County, Ohio. Being five miles from the nearest town, then attending a small school (there were 49 in my graduating class), the social opportunities were limited. Consequently, I became a compulsive reader and developed a fascination with the English language.

Basketball was the major sport at my high school, Newton Township Local in Pleasant Hill, Ohio. I was on the team, but never played when the game was on the line. “Valuable asset” — they were being very kind.

Air Force

I had a twenty-year Air Force career. I didn’t achieve high rank, but I put my heart and soul into it, which laid the foundation for the rest of my life.

No Limits

The sport of running has given me more than my share of great accomplishments. And the world looks so much brighter after a good run!
