Patagonia

Continent #4 for the half marathon

We first visited the Atacama Desert.

The sunrise through steam at the Tatio Geysers in the Atacama Desert.

Sunrise in Patagonia: “Rush through Patagonia, and you waste time.”

Me after an exhausting hike to see the Three Pillars up close.

There were some amazing mountains.

The sunrise playing optical tricks with the mountains.

Some very unusual cloud formations hovered over Grey Lake.

One of three faces of Grey Glacier.

At one point we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn.

Oh, and I did win my age group in the half marathon. The middle podium was so high they had to help me up.

This is an outdoor time-lapse photo of me with the Milky Way galaxy. It was taken at an astronomical observatory in the Atacama Desert. The sky is completely different in the Southern Hemisphere. The Big Dipper is upside down just above the horizon and (of course) Polaris can’t been seen.
